Rilke CMS 0.95 beta has been released
The eighth release of Rilke CMS, version 0.95 beta has been made available at SourceForge. Rilke CMS provides easy content management for non-geeks. It allows you to easily publish a weblog, update a public website, or collaborate on a private Intranet site.

Rilke CMS is different from other open source content management systems in that it is easy to learn and use, and does not have a blocky look-and-feel.

It relies on five built-in CSS layouts/themes which can be changed with a single click.

Rilke CMS is currently available in English and German.

A live demo of Rilke CMS 0.95 beta is available at:
http://www.rilkecms.com/demo/

Rilke CMS 0.95 beta is a big feature release. It also fixes many long standing bugs.

New Features in 0.95 beta include:

* A redesigned default theme
* A built in permissions / user-level system (writer, editor, administrator)
* A complete user interface for adminstering users (only available to administrators)
* Customizable Links (via a styled drop down menu)
* Customizable Blogroll + Integrated Mini RSS Feed Aggregator
* A customizable contact info block

This release also fixes many bugs, including the (remaining) bugs that occured with register globals turned off in PHP.
The total number of major changes (including feature additions and bug fixes) is 20.

For a detailed list of changes, please review the Changelog.

You can download version 0.95 beta here:

“ITERATION isn’t just for visual design. It also helps you uncover insights. A List Apart found people are often commenting and re-tweeting articles before they read them. They learned this by iterating on where the share and comment links exist on the page.”—LukeW | An Event Apart: 10 Commandments of Web Design.

Firefox in the Market

The latest browser usage stats are out at Net Applications:

Firefox has been mostly stable over the last year with Chrome down about 15% from its high. The increasingly solid IE 9 and 10 browsers have helped reverse Microsoft's slide, putting them solidly in positive growth over the last year.

Metro Firefox lands on mozilla-central

On Tuesday, our preliminary Metro Firefox development work arrived at mozilla-central, the source code repository that feeds the Firefox Nightly channel. This means that if you are on the Firefox Nightly channel and you have a Windows 8 device, your Wednesday Firefox update should deliver a Metro Firefox tile to the far right end of your Windows Start screen.

There's plenty of work still to do, but it's stable enough that we're ready for more and more regular testing. If you're a Firefox or Windows developer and you'd like to get involved, please let me know.

US ITC refuses to ban Microsoft's Xbox at Google's request

The U.S. International Trade Commission has turned down a request for a ban on Microsoft's Xbox after finding that the gaming device did not infringe a patent owned by Google's Motorola Mobility unit.

The ITC's ruling Thursday has essentially confirmed an initial ruling by administrative law judge David P. Shaw in March that the Xbox did not infringe a Motorola patent relating to wireless peer-to-peer communications.

"We're disappointed with this decision and are evaluating our options," Motorola's spokesman William Moss said in an email on Thursday.

The patent in question was the last in the dispute which was filed in the ITC in November 2010 by Motorola which accused Microsoft of infringing five of its patents.

Microsoft brushes off claim Xbox Live accounts were compromised

Microsoft brushed off a dubious hacker's claim on Thursday that he stole 47 million account credentials for Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming service.

The hacker, who goes by the Twitter handle "@Reckz0r," wrote on Pastebin that Microsoft stored the login credentials in plain text. The data included email addresses and passwords, he added.

The alleged breach comes just days after Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One, the latest iteration of the gaming system.

"Xbox Live has not been hacked," the company said in a statement. "Microsoft can confirm that there has been no breach to the security of our Xbox Live service."
